Counselling and therapy

Counselling and therapy for emotional healing and resilience

I offer counselling and therapy for people who are finding things harder than they used to. Anxiety, trauma, or relationship challenges can begin to affect how you feel day to day, even when you’ve been coping for a long time.

If you find yourself caught in patterns of overthinking, self-doubt, or emotional overwhelm, you’re not alone. You don’t have to figure everything out on your own.

A tui flies free into a blue sky in the same way that Clinical EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques will help you to free yourself and fly.

What you can expect

Many people come to counselling or therapy because they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally worn down. Some of the experiences that people seek counselling or therapy for include:

  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Low mood, depressive feelings, and emotional exhaustion
  • Emotional, physical, or sexual trauma
  • Post-traumatic stress and ongoing trauma responses
  • Relationship challenges, including narcissistic or emotionally abusive relationship dynamics
  • Stress and overwhelm
  • Low self-worth, self-doubt, and people-pleasing
  • Limiting beliefs and negative thought patterns

Together, we can work at your pace. The focus is on regulating emotions and reducing triggers. We can also explore patterns that no longer serve you.

As emotional weight begins to release, people begin to feel more at ease within themselves. I provide a safe, non-judgemental space, and you won’t be asked to share more than you’re comfortable sharing.

Counselling and therapy FAQs

What’s the difference between counselling and therapy? Which do you offer?

Many people use the words counselling and therapy interchangeably, and that’s okay. Counselling usually focuses on helping you understand and manage what’s happening in your life right now, while therapy often explores deeper patterns and past experiences that may be influencing your current challenges.

In my work, I draw from both. I’m a holistic counsellor, but the outcomes clients experience are often closer to what you might expect from therapy, such as long-term emotional change, greater self-understanding, and relief from repeating patterns that have kept you stuck.

If you’ve noticed repeating patterns in your relationships, emotions, or self-beliefs, and you’re looking for lasting change, not just short-term coping, you’ll likely find this approach deeply supportive.

What does it mean that you’re trained as a holistic counsellor?

Holistic counselling simply means I’m trained to work with the whole person. This means your thoughts, emotions, body, and the patterns that shape your daily life. It’s an integrative way of understanding and working with what you’re going through, rather than focusing on one area in isolation.

Building on this foundation, I use evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Clinical EFT and HeartMath®. When it supports your process I also draw on additional Energy Psychology techniques which can include Parts Work and guided Unfinished Conversations.

All of these methods blend naturally with Clinical EFT to help you explore conflicting inner feelings, resolve emotional residue from past relationships or experiences, and gain relief and a sense of resolution.

How I work

I use a flexible counselling approach that draws on a range of trauma-informed tools, guided by what feels most helpful for you. Clinical EFT forms the basis of my counselling work, with HeartMath® and Energy Psychology integrated as needed.

These approaches can reduce emotional intensity and support healing while working with your experiences.

The approaches I use in counselling and therapy

In my sessions, I draw on a blend of mind-body techniques, including Clinical EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), HeartMath®, and Energy Psychology.

These can help you to:

  • Process and release unresolved emotional pain
  • Regulate your nervous system
  • Restore a sense of balance and control in your life

This integrated approach helps address subconscious patterns and supports emotional regulation.

Clinical EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)

Clinical EFT is an evidence-based therapy that uses somatic techniques to help calm the nervous system and release emotional distress.

Often referred to as EFT tapping, it integrates cognitive, somatic, and exposure-based elements, and is supported by a growing body of clinical research.

This work goes beyond talking alone, supporting change at both the conscious and subconscious levels.

Many people notice fewer emotional triggers, feel more at ease within themselves, and experience improved emotional regulation over time.

HeartMath®

Grounded in over 30 years of research, HeartMath® is a set of techniques that supports emotional regulation through heart-focused practices.

It focuses on the connection between the heart, brain, and nervous system, and is widely used to support emotional balance and resilience.

Many people notice improved emotional stability, clearer thinking, and a greater capacity to respond under pressure.

I am a certified HeartMath® practitioner, holding the HeartMath® Clinical Certification for Stress, Anxiety, and Emotional Self-Regulation, as well as the Trauma-Sensitive HeartMath® Certification

Energy Psychology

Energy Psychology integrates psychological understanding with body-based techniques to support emotional processing and change.

It can be helpful when emotional responses feel stuck, conflicting, or difficult to resolve through talking alone.

Many people notice reduced emotional intensity, new understanding about past experiences, and a stronger sense of integration.

These techniques are used alongside Clinical EFT within counselling and therapy sessions where appropriate.
